Whether you’re jetting off to warmer climes or staying put this summer, the chances are that at some point you’ll be hitting the beach. Making sure that you look and feel great as you stroll along the sand is important, so here are some tips to help you get ready.
Prepare your body
Lying on the beach, soaking up the sun may sound easy but in actual fact a lot of hard work goes into getting your body ready for summer.
From working it in the gym to dehairing those crucial areas, while everyone’s approach is different, there are a few things we should all be doing.
For example, if you’re heading off on a beach holiday, try to moisturise your skin and nails as much as you can before you go. This will prepare them for the heat and prevent too much flaking and breaking. Similarly, around three weeks before your holiday starts, use intensive conditioners to moisturise your hair, otherwise it can become dry and brittle in the sun and sea.
Get the look
Once your body’s ready, you need to prepare your wardrobe. Light, floaty summer dresses will look great in the evening and beach dresses can be worn throughout the day as you move between the pool and the sun lounger.
A good pair of sunglasses will add a glamorous touch and stop the sun from damaging the delicate skin around your eyes.
Once your holiday is in full swing, there are a few things you can do to ensure that you stay looking your best. Most importantly, moisturize regularly and thoroughly. This will help your skin repair itself after a day in the sun and leave you looking healthy and glowing.
If you’re in the sun for most of the day, make sure you drink lots of water. Becoming dehydrated will make you both feel and look tired.
Finally, use plenty of sun cream. Protecting your skin from harmful rays is incredibly important and will keep you looking younger for longer.
