Tunog Dabaw, Tubong Dabaw

Everyone in the city is excited for the 75th Araw ng Dabaw. There are great activities and events happening all over Davao to celebrate the city's charter day. The city government and all other organizations in-charged for this major festival started making its plans and preparations last year. They have been working hard to ensure that Dabawenyos and tourists will appreciate the beauty of the city.

The other day, I went to SM city with Abdel to pick up our close friend. Since we had nothing to do for the afternoon, we decided to visit the mall's event centre where different works (theme: nature or environment) of local artists were displayed. The paintings and sculptures made by Kublai made our day. His works of art are completely unique and inspiring. Since SM allowed us to take pictures, we were able to capture some shots for the masterpieces of the great Davao artists. These images will be posted on this site soon once everything is uploaded on my personal computer.

Yesterday, my date and I went to Abreeza Mall for the Tunog Dabaw, Tubong Dabaw. It is a mini-concert that showcases the talents of different musicians from the city. The great Popong Landero is one of the musicians who made the event possible. For almost three hours, we listened to the original compositions and songs played by the local artists. Together with Popong Landero are his band, Joey Ayala, Oni Badyang and Mebuyan. These talented individuals really made our day.

After the concert, I've came to realize that the music industry has really changed for the past few years. How I wish I could more chances to witness the Mindanao musicians perform on stage. The way they surprise their audience with their great music is exceptional. Sometimes, it's good to take a rest from listening to RNB, alternative and pop songs. Instead, why don't we travel back in time and check the albums of the Filipino musicians (without songs written/sang in English).
