College days are officially over. Today is the first morning in my life as a college graduate. To be honest, nothing is special about this day except for the fact that I would be spending it with my loved ones. There are so many things running through my mind right now. First, what are my plans for summer? Second, should I enter the grad school? Third, will I ever make it? And lastly, am I willing to spend another four or five years for my studies? Well, at the age of 20, I think I should. As my father says, "Don't rush 'cause your still young. There is no time limit for education. Keep learning, anak."
After giving dad my college diploma, the next thing I'm planning to do is to fulfill his ultimate dream for me. Right now, all I can think about is our graduation song - Like an Eagle. Most favorite line: "Like an eagle I will soar above the clouds, I will spread my wings and fly into the sun, Like an eagle I will race above the stars. I will fly to places yet unseen. Go beyond my wildest dreams." Ateneo will always be a part of me. (Graduation post will be published soon.)
To follow the wind
To walk alone
And a star will show the way
Above the clouds
Beyond the sea
And now is the time
And now and farewell
And as we part
You taught me well
You gave me strength
You showed the way
I'll not forget you
Like an eagle I will soar above the clouds
I will spread my wings and fly into the sun
Like an eagle I will race above the stars
I will fly to places yet unseen
Go beyond my wildest dreams
Know that you are watching over me
And all alone
I will follow the stars above
As my guide
As my guide
I trust in you
To show the way to me
Beyond the sea
And now is the time
And now and farewell
And as we part
You taught me well
You gave me strength
You showed the way
I'll not forget you
Like an eagle I will race above the stars
I will spread my wings and fly into the sun
Like an eagle I will race above the stars
I will fly to places yet unseen
Go beyond my wildest dreams
Know that you are watching over me
Alone, I can fly with the eagle to the mountain high
Race with the eagle so far beyond my dreams
Like an eagle I will fly
Like an eagle I will race above the stars
I will spread my wings and fly into the sun
Like an eagle I will soar above the clouds
I will fly to places yet unseen
Go beyond my wildest dreams
Know that you are watching over me
Like and eagle I will race above the stars
Like an eagle I will fly
Like an eagle I will fly
I'm gonna fly the highest mountain
(Fly)
Fly above the clouds
Like an eagle I will fly

Wow! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all graduates!
ReplyDeleteWow! Congratulations! You're now one of us. I graduated from college in 2000 so you are definitely way younger than me and I am at the moment pursuing a new career as a chef here in Sweden. Two months more and I'm done with culinary school and internship. I am a pharmacist in the Philippines and now have decided to try the restaurant world.
ReplyDeleteAs for you, go ahead and live your dreams. Age does not matter. Do what makes you happy. Soar high like an eagle. You know you can do it!

ReplyDeleteCongrats! I remembered when I sang that song too a decade ago. I felt goose bumps and reminisce that date, Mar. 18, 2000 at the same venue. I felt that moment accomplished. But after that I realized I have a long way to go. Soar high and welcome corporate world!
ReplyDeleteYou can always take off for a year and work and relax a little - but if you're afraid you won't go back to school you should probably go now. It's hard to make that decision isn't it? You'll make the right decision in the long run.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you on GFC - would love a follow back if you're interested on my blogs @ http://familyliteracy2.blogspot.com and http://givingnsharing.blogspot.com - I'm entering the Happy Spring Giveaway BTW - thanks for joining in!
Very nice song. Thanks for sharing this song. Happy graduation day and all the best for your future.
